How to order and eat Israeli fast food.
The two major
fast foods are schwarma and falafel. The most
traditional way to eat them is stuffed into Pita bread. You
can also order then in a Laffa which is a large flat bread
wrap, or you can order in a baguette. If ordering in a
pita you may ask for a portion or half a portion which is only
enough for a child or a bit of a taste. You will
be asked what you want inside and can choose between Humus
(recommended) techina, hot sauce and salads, after the falafel or
schwarma is added to the pita you can add additional sauces and
salads, don't forget to try them all. Sit down with a beverage
and enjoy. Most likely the bottom will fall out of the pita and the
food will fall into the bag and your hands will get all messy, so
don't forget to get plenty of napkins (serviettes) and eat it all
up. A Laffa is bigger and safer and can
feed a teenager. All of the fillings
are added before it is rolled but you can take a plate of salads to
eat with it. A baguette can be sliced in half to feed two
medium appetites or allow you to try several things at one meal.
